  • The Personal Computer (PC) is a productivity enhancement tool. This is big talk to simply state that it allows you to perform a lot of tasks more efficiently than would have been possible if the tasks were performed without a computer.
    ___________________________
  • The most popular computer product used by businesses to perform all types of tasks is called Microsoft Office.
    ___________________________
  • Microsoft Office contains products such as:

    1. Microsoft Word - is a word processing software. Whether you need to create a letter, memo, report, or whatever you want to write, Microsoft Word is a great tool to use. It works like a typewriter. It allows you to type personal or business letters which can then be saved in files on your computer. You may call these files documents. You could later open the documents, modify its contents, and print it to a local printer.

    2. Microsoft Excel - is a spreadsheet software that is used by accountants, financial analysts, or anyone who wants to make sense of their data by organizing, calculating, and analyzing.

    3. Microsoft Access - is used by most businesses to maintain vital information in databases. Access allows you to create customer lists, product inventories, and payroll schedules, for example, that are then stored in access database files.

    4. Microsoft Outlook - is a general purpose software used for communicating via e-mails within a company or through the internet. The software has other features that makes it particularly useful; such as (a) a calendar for storing appointments with pop-up reminders, (b) it allows you to store a collection of names and addresses, and (c) it also allows you to store notes and documents.

    5. Microsoft PowerPoint - is a software used by business professionals to make presentations to groups. Any time you communicate with a group of people, or you’re giving a presentation, the more important the message is, the clearer you want the presentation to be. Also the larger the audience, the easier the message must be to grasp. You can communicate information better and more easily with a software such as PowerPoint.

  • So if you are entering the job market or want to enhance your job skills, consider the Microsoft Office 2000 Standard Series. Even if you do not have Office 2000 installed on your computer, the CD-ROM based training includes built-in Office 2000 Software Simulators to give you actual hands-on experience. A Software Simulator is a software application (i.e. computer program) that is designed to give you the look and feel of the actual software you are learning.
